Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. – After defeating the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (18-5, 12-2 RMAC) a couple weeks ago in a non-conference clash, the Regis University volleyball team suffered a 3-1 road loss.

The Rangers jumped out ahead on the Orediggers early in the first set 7-3 but the home team rallied back to tie the score at 8-8. Regis responded with a 6-1 run and carried that momentum throughout the rest of the set to take a 1-0 match lead with the 25-20 win.

Colorado Mines offense was unstoppable in the second set as RU struggled to slow down a .565 attack percentage from the Orediggers. CSM evened the match up at 1-1 with the 25-16 second set win.

Regis produced a similar start in the third as they begun the match holding a 6-2 lead but Colorado Mines halted the RU attack to tie the score at 6-6. Regis was able to hang around exchanging points with the Orediggers but five-straight from CSM pushed the deficit to 13-9.

The Rangers attempted to claw back at 15-13 but scoring droughts from RU continued to deflate any offensive momentum. Regis rallied off three in a row with CSM on set-point but could not hold off any longer to go behind 2-1 in the match with the 25-20 third set loss.

RU battled through the fourth set making a strong attempt to extend the match. Four-straight points from the Rangers brought them with two, 20-18 but CSM was able to put the match away with the 25-20 fourth set win.

RU's attack struggled tonight in efficiency as they were slightly outhit 53-51. Regis saw 16 more attack attempts than CSM but a .176 attack percentage was no match to the Orediggers .302. The Rangers were led by
Katie Klein,
Maggie Steward and
Kelsey Green each with 11 kills apiece. Steward was most efficient producing a .231 attack percentage on 26 attempts.

Regis returns to the Fieldhouse on Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. hosting Black Hills State. RU will recognize and honor their seniors following that match.
