Regis makes it three-straight conference wins with victory over South Dakota Mines

Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. – On the second night of back-to-back games, the Regis University men's basketball team matched up with the South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers (7-5, 3-3 RMAC). Regis (9-3, 3-3 RMAC) won their third game in a row as they rolled to a 78-64 win on Saturday night.

Sophomore Jarrett Brodbeck exploded for 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field including 6-of-9 from three-point land. Redshirt-junior Troy Anderson II broke out for a season-high 19 points as he made 7-of-9 shots on the night.

How It Happened: Brodbeck made his presence known early in the first half as he scored 20 points in the opening half knocking down five shots from beyond the arc. Anderson II took over in the second half scoring all of his 19 points in 17 minutes of action.

A 6-0 run to end the first half gave the Rangers a 38-31 lead heading into the break. Anderson II scored 11 points in a two-minute stretch near the end of the game that put the game out of reach. Two free-throws with one minute and 21 seconds on the clock put RU ahead 76-61. Regis closed out the game for the 78-64 victory.

Game Notes: Combining for 42 points, Brodbeck and Anderson II helped the team to their third straight conference victory. Last season, Brodbeck scored his career-high 40 points against the Hardrockers and he seemed to carry that same confidence into their first matchup this season.

The Rangers knocked down 53.7 percent (29-54) of their attempts from the field and 47.1 percent of their shots from beyond the arc. The visitors outrebounded the home team by a slight margin of 21-19, but it was the defense that dominated the game. Holding SDSM&T to 38.9 percent shooting including 6-of-21 from deep, RU was able to limit any offensive opportunities.

For the second night in a row the Regis bench notched 28+ points, and the team converted 17 Hardrocker turnovers into 23 points on their way to a 32-30 advantage in points in the paint.

Next Up for the Rangers: The men's team will not be in action until New Year's Eve, Saturday December 31, when they welcome the conference-leading Fort Lewis College Skyhawks (10-1, 5-0 RMAC) to the Regis Fieldhouse for a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) showdown at 7 p.m.
