Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University volleyball team defeated the RV Saint Leo University Lions 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 18-25, 25-21) in the semifinal match of the silver bracket in day two action of the Colorado Premier Challenge.
The Rangers produced unarguably their best start to a match this season jumping out to an early two-set lead over the Lions. RU breezed through the opening sets committing just one attack error throughout the entire first set hitting at a season-high .467 clip.
The Lions rallied in the third set to push the match into the fourth. Seven-straight points with
Kristina Schell at service gave Regis an early 7-2 lead. Saint Leo continued to fight back hopeful of pushing it another set. The Rangers sat comfortably in control at 19-13 until the Lions produced a 7-2 run to bring the score to 21-20 in favor of RU.
Regis closed out the match with three-straight points to improve to an overall record of 4-3. The Rangers outhit the Lions 52-48 led by
Katie Klein tying her season-high of 14 kills and hitting at a clip of .344. Jac Williamson produced her best match thus far this season with 25 assists while also adding 14 digs.
The Rangers will face the No. 6 University of Central Missouri Jennies in the championship match of the silver bracket Saturday evening at 5 p.m. The match will be played at MSU Denver.
