Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The No. 18 Regis University women's basketball team extended their win streak to six with a dominating 77-46 win over the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls (2-15, 1-13 RMAC). With that win, the Rangers improve to 16-2 overall and 11-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Four Rangers netted double-digits led by
Shelby Espinosa and
Jaz'Myne Snipes. For the second game in a row, Espinosa has led RU with 14 on 7-of-9 from the field while coming in just one board shy of another double-double with nine. Snipes recorded a career-high 14 points knocking down 7-of-8 from the field and the two combined for 15 rebounds.
Morgan Ducklow added a career-high 12 points on 4-of-8 from the field and 4-of-6 from distance.
Chante Church chipped in with ten points of her own.
How It Happened: Regis' offense exploded in the first quarter as the home squad controlled a 28-18 lead. The offensive domination continued throughout the second quarter as RU held their largest lead thus far, 46-31, at halftime.
The Rangers opened the third quarter with a 17-2 run quickly extending their lead even more out of reach for the Cowgirls. Back-to-back three's from Ducklow and
McKenna Bishop pushed the lead to its largest of the game, 63-33.
The lead never exchanged hands and Highlands was able to tie the score three times early in the game.
Game Notes: Every Ranger saw action on the court tonight with 39 points coming from the bench. Regis tallied 15 assists contributing to the win. RU turned the ball over just six times while scoring 21 points off 17 Cowgirl turnovers. Regis shot 46.3 percent (31-67) from the field and 36.4 percent (8-22) from three. The Rangers recorded five blocks with Bishop and
Serena Gudino each tallying two apiece.
Karlyn Johnson and
Mary Sigler went down in the books for three assists each. RU outrebounded Highlands 41-33. Regis dropped 20 points on 15 offensive boards.
Next Up For The Rangers: Regis next faces CSU-Pueblo Saturday, January 28 at 5 p.m. in a top 20 match-up. The Rangers are ranked No. 18 and sit in second place in the RMAC while CSU-Pueblo is ranked No. 4 and undefeated thus far this season.
