Box Score GUNNISON, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team was in action for the first time since the beginning of 2017, paying a visit to the Mountaineers of Western State Colorado University (2-10, 1-7 RMAC) and leaving with a 101-90 victory.
Regis (11-3, 5-3 RMAC) extended their win streak to five straight games in a long-range shootout with WSCU on Friday night. Sophomore
Jarrett Brodbeck led all scorers with a season-high 30 points, going 9-for-17 from the field and knocking down seven three-pointers.

Ryan Beisty chipped in with 19 points (5-8 3-pt) and junior
Dexter Sienko (7-8 FG, 1-1 3-pt) added his first double-double of the year with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
How It Happened: Both teams were un-afraid to let it fly from beyond the arc, each exhibiting great success. The Mountaineers opened with a 9-2 run to set the tone early in the game. RU fought their way back into the game taking a 51-43 lead into halftime coming on a layup from junior
Dexter Sienko with less than five seconds on the clock.
The second half was action-packed as three technical fouls were called in the final five minutes of regulation, two on the WSCU bench and one on sophomore
Ryan Beisty. This allowed Regis to extend their lead to the largest of the game at 14 points, 94-80, with a little more than two minutes on the clock.
Free throws, strong defense and efficient offense helped the Rangers close out the Mountaineers as they came away with the 101-90 victory.
Game Notes: The teams combined for 59 total three-point shot attempts in the game, with the home team shooting 53.3 percent (16-30), and the visitors converting on 51.7 percent (15-29). RU dominated with offensive efficiency as they made 35 of their 61 shot attempts on the night for an overall shooting percentage of 57.4.
Both teams tracked down 33 rebounds apiece, but it was points off turnovers and second-chance opportunities that put Regis ahead for good. The Rangers relentlessness on the offensive glass led to 12 second chance points, and they also turned 21 WSCU turnovers into 21 points on the other end.
RU held advantages in steals (11-5), blocks (4-1) and turnovers (16-21) which allowed them to change the momentum anytime they were challenged. Junior
Kevin Metoyer collected a team-high eight assists to go along with 10 points while senior
Elijah Sanders (3-4 FG, 4-4 FT, 2 BLK) scored a season-high 10 points in the effort.
Next Up for the Rangers: Tomorrow night, the men's basketball team will take on the Colorado Mesa University (2-6, 3-11 RMAC) at 7:30 p.m. in Grand Junction, Colo. and will look to improve on their current five-game win streak.
