Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – In a game to separate themselves from the Colorado Mesa Mavericks (11-2, 6-2 RMAC) in conference play, the Regis University women's basketball team held off a late-game comeback to earn the 76-71 win. The Rangers now sit in sole possession of third place with a 7-2 record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

How It Happened: The Rangers shot an impressive 43.5 (10-23) percent from beyond the arc playing a large part in the defeat of the Mavericks.
Majestie Robinson drained one from beyond the arc to lead 19-11 after the first quarter and
Mary Sigler opened the lead to 12 at the start of the second with a three of her own.

Back-to-back three-point baskets from Sigler and
Morgan Ducklow at the halfway point of the second quarter allowed RU to keep CMU at a comfortable distance, 37-21. Regis controlled a 39-24 lead at halftime holding the Mavericks to shoot just 14 percent from distance.

The Mavericks decreased the deficit to eight, 43-35, with just under seven minutes to play in the third in what would be their final field-goal of the quarter. The Rangers quickly responded with three-straight three-pointers and tough defense. Regis held Colorado Mesa scoreless from the 6:58 mark until the end of the third quarter which included a 17-0 run to lead 60-35 at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Rangers controlled a 24-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter when the Mavericks went to work. A 14-0 Colorado Mesa run put them within striking distance, 67-61, with under a minute to play. RU put an end to the Maverick comeback as
Chante Church knocked down the front end of two foul shots to close it out and improve to an overall record of 12-2.

Game Notes: Sigler led the Rangers with 19 points going 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. She also chipped in with two rebounds, six assists and two steals. Two other Rangers recorded double-digit scoring in
Kaylie Rader with 15 and
Karlyn Johnson with ten. Rader and Johnson combined for 17 rebounds to help the Rangers dominate on the boards 42-29. RU chased down 17 offensive boards to just nine from CMU. Regis shot 39 (23-59) from the field, 41.7 (10-24) and 83.3 (20-24) percent from the line.

Up Next For The Rangers: Regis return home next weekend to host Westminster (6-7, 4-5 RMAC) on Saturday, January 14 at 5 p.m. Westminster dropped back-to-back games this past weekend to Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines.
