Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

RU picks up critical 1-0 win over CSU-Pueblo

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's soccer team (8-8, 6-8 RMAC) closed out the regular season with a 1-0 home victory over Colorado State University – Pueblo (3-11-4, 3-7-4 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened: Eight minutes into the game, redshirt-sophomore defender Ryan Ebert dribbled around a defender and into the penalty box where he drew a foul. Regis was awarded a penalty kick and senior forward Sawyer Lincoln stepped up and buried the penalty kick off the hands of goalkeeper Erich Frey who pushed the ball into the right-side netting.

The Rangers and ThunderWolves continued to battle throughout. The teams continuously pushed each other on their offensive attacks, but in the end, it was Lincoln's penalty kick that proved to be the deciding goal of the match.

Game Notes: RU finished with 22 total shots, placing nine of them on target. Lincoln led Regis with four shots on goal. The Rangers' defense held CSUP to just 13 total shot attempts in the match, with seven of them logging as shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Ciaran Gibson saved all seven shots that came his way and recorded his fourth shutout of the year. Freshman midfielder Eric Peter and freshman defender Caleb Larson were both cautioned with a yellow card in the first half as RU managed to win the corner kick battle 8-3.

Up Next for the Rangers: The men's soccer team has secured a spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletc Conference (RMAC) tournament and will now wait to see who they will match up with in the first round. Stay tuned to www.regisrangers.com and all Regis Rangers social media accounts for more details.
