Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team knocked off the conference-leading No. 19 ranked Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (18-4, 13-3 RMAC) 60-55 on Friday night as they led from start to finish.
How It Happened: Regis (14-7, 8-7 RMAC) and sophomore
Jarrett Brodbeck got things started early as they jumped out to a big 31-15 lead. Brodbeck hit three shots from beyond the arc in the first 11 minutes, spurring the huge run from the home team to start the game. Trading baskets back and forth, the teams headed into the break with the Rangers ahead 38-30.
With 9:55 on the clock in the second half, the Orediggers found themselves down by three points, which was the closest they had been since the score was 4-2 in favor of RU. Regis responded by extending their lead to eight points, 56-48, six minutes later. However, CSM did not go away as they once again fought to within three points of the home team in the final two minutes. Four straight free-throws from the Rangers put the game away as they held on to the 60-55 win over the No. 19 ranked Orediggers.
Game Notes: After scoring 15 points in the first half, Brodbeck cooled off in the second but still led the way with 17 points and three steals. Three other players scored in double-figures with senior
Noah King (4-7 FG, 4-6 FT, five rebounds) scoring 12, and junior
Kevin Metoyer (3-10 FG, 2-2 FT, 2-7 3-Pt) and freshman
Christian Little (3-4 FG, 4-5 FT) each finishing with 10 points apiece. Little led the way with two assists while redshirt junior
Troy Anderson II grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to lead all players for RU. The home team turned 12 visitor turnovers into 14 points and did not allow CSM to lead at any point in the game.
Next Up for the Rangers: The men's basketball team will take the court again tomorrow night as they seek revenge on the Colorado Christian Cougars (12-10, 9-7 RMAC) who beat them on a last second shot earlier this season.
