How It Happened: For the third straight time, the home team drew first blood scoring one run in the bottom of the second inning. Regis responded in the top of the fourth inning when an error by the right fielder allowed junior Andrew Bryniarski to score from second base.

ASU countered with a three-run bottom half of the fourth, a five-run fifth and one more run in the sixth to take a commanding 10-2 lead heading into the top half of the seventh. The Rangers cut into the lead when senior Josh Newell launched a three-run shot over the fence, bringing the score to 10-5.

The Rams got one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning extending their lead by one with three outs to go in the contest. With two outs in the top of the ninth, RU strung together a few hits to get runners on base. Junior Garrett Skillings laced a single, scoring senior Max Fabricant. Junior Christian Bitar followed with a two-run single bringing Regis within three runs, 8-11. A balk from the pitcher allowed Skillings to score from third base, and advanced Bitar to second base. The next batter, representing the tying run in a 9-11 ballgame, flied out to right field ending the Rangers' comeback attempt.
