How it Happened: UCCS kicked things off with a four-run top of the first coming on a two-run homerun and four-straight hits with two outs from the Mountain Lions.
Three-straight doubles to left field from junior Chris Kobar, and seniors Max Fabricant and Josh Newell gave Regis their first and second runs in the bottom of the third. After three full innings, the Rangers found themselves behind 4-2.
A single to center field in the fourth inning plated another run, and a solo shot in the sixth put the visitors ahead 6-2 after six innings. Another run in the top of the seventh gave UCCS their largest lead of the day at 7-2.
RU scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the lead to three runs, 7-4, on a double from Newell and an RBI groundout from junior Christian Bitar. The home squad was unable to put any more runs on the board and they dropped the series finale 7-4 to the Mountain Lions.

Redshirt-sophomore Matt Heibult (L, 0-1) picked up his first loss of the year as he struggled early. Heibult struck out seven batters, allowing nine hits and only two earned runs on the day. Three errors accounted for a total of three unearned runs, which proved to be the difference in the game.
