DENVER, Colo. – Ranger lacrosse defeated Colorado Mesa 16-12 in their second matchup of the year. Their first ended in a 17-4 Regis win. The win moves RU to a 12-1 overall record and 6-0 in conference play.
How It Happened: Regis claimed the first goal of the game within three minutes of the start from
Jada Bonner. Not even a minute later,
Wendy Donier found the back of the net for the Rangers to take a 2-0 lead.
At the 25 minute mark,
Erin Todd scored another goal assisted by
Sarah Myres for a quick 3-0 lead.
The Mavericks tied the game with 18 minutes to play in the first half. Colorado Mesa scored three goals unanswered but the Rangers responded with four goals of their own to reclaim the lead, 7-3.
Scoring was back and forth until just under two minutes left in the half. The Rangers closed out the first 30 minutes of play with three goals and a 13-8 lead over CMU.
Colorado Mesa struck first in the second half. The Mavericks scored a goal less than two minutes into the half.
Regis did not score in the second half until the 20 minute mark.

CMU responded with two more goals to bring the score to within three with 12 minutes to play.
RU scored their final two goals within 30 seconds of each other.
Ali Vanek claimed the first and
Wendy Donier the second bringing Regis to a 16-11 lead.
Colorado Mesa scored the last goal of the game with 6:19 to play and reaching the final outcome of 16-12.
Game Notes: Todd, Vanek and Donier all scored three goals apiece. Three different Rangers also recorded one assist each. Myres finished with two goals and five assists. In goal,
Court Huston allowed six goals and made five saves.
Next Up For The Rangers: Regis travels to Alamosa Wednesday, April 19 for their next matchup. RU faces Adams State at 3 pm.
