Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 15 Regis falls 15-13 to No. 9 Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 15 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (8-1, 4-0 RMAC) made the cross-country journey to Florida, losing their first game of the season to the No. 9 ranked Florida Institute of Technology Panthers (9-2, 0-1 SSC) 13-15 on Friday afternoon.

Regis had their eight-game win streak snapped in their toughest road match of the season thus far, scoring only one goal in the second half.

How It Happened: The Rangers started the game off scoring the first three goals of the game to take a quick 3-0 lead within the first five minutes of the game. The Panthers responded with three goals of their own to knot the game at three goals apiece three minutes later. FIT took their first lead, 5-4, with 17:57 on the clock.

RU quickly tied the game back up and went on a run that led to seven straight goals from the visitors for a huge 12-6 lead heading into halftime.

The second half was a completely different story for both teams as the Panthers rattled off eight goals in a row, giving them a 14-12 lead before Regis scored their next goal with less than 12 minutes left in the game.

The final goal of the game came at the hands of FIT as they netted their 15th and final goal of the game late in the second half. The Rangers fought deep into Panthers territory, but they had a difficult time getting good looks at the net. The team ended up running out of time to mount their comeback against the No. 9 ranked FIT.

Game Notes: Three players netted three goals apiece for RU including redshirt-senior Erin Todd (3 G, 1 A), freshman Andrea Macalalad (3 G, 3 SOG) and junior Erin Steiner (3 G, 1 GB, 6 DC). Sophomore Wendy Donier and junior Sarah Myres added one goal and two assists each in the effort. This marks the highest goal output against Regis this season and the 13 goals tied a season-low offensively.

Next Up for the Rangers: The No. 15 ranked women's lacrosse team will face Saint Leo University tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
