Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Rolls Past ThunderWolves 3-1

Pueblo, Colo. - The Regis University men's soccer team (8-3-2, 7-1-2 RMAC) brought home another victory this afternoon as they took down Colorado State University-Pueblo (5-7-2, 2-6-2 RMAC) in Pueblo, Colorado. A trio of Rangers contributed to the road victory as Jake Brown, Freddie Swales and John Halter all found the back of the net for Regis.

How it Happened: The Rangers never trailed in the contest as they opened the floodgates in the 22nd minute of play with a goal at the foot of Brown. Parker Klein had his sights set on the ThunderWolves' frame, taking his shot but narrowly missing. Waiting in the right place was Brown who corralled in the rebound and sent home goal number one of the afternoon.

Both teams continued to threaten offensively, recording four shots apiece, none of which connected to send the game into halftime with RU leading 1-0.

It was only a matter of minutes before the Rangers struck again, adding a second goal at the 48:02 minute mark from Swales off a Porter Milner corner kick. Not long after, Halter made his own donation to the victory with an unassisted goal from 15 yards out.

With less than 20 minutes left on the clock, the ThunderWolves were able to capitalize on a shot to reduce the Ranger lead to 3-1. CSU-Pueblo's newfound energy forced keeper Chase Webert to stay alert in net, finishing off the match with a pair of saves that capped the afternoon with a score of 3-1.

Game Notes: The ThunderWolves managed to register 10 shots on goal on 16 shots while taking eight corners. Regis tallied just nine shots in the contest, six of which on goal, as well as five corners. Webert finished the afternoon with nine saves in net

Up Next for the Rangers: Following this triumph, the Rangers return to the Regis Match Pitch as they host Metropolitan State University of Denver and Colorado Christian University on Friday October 19 and Sunday, October 21. Action against the Roadrunners is set for 3:30 PM while first kick with CCU is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
