Regis Blanked 2-0 on Senior Day

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's soccer team (10-5-2, 9-3-2 RMAC) celebrated their five seniors this afternoon in the final game of the regular season. The Rangers came up just short, falling 2-0 as they hosted the number 1 ranked team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), Colorado School of Mines (16-1-1, 13-0-1 RMAC) this afternoon, .

How it Happened: The Orediggers recorded their first goal of the contest in the 23rd minute after burying a penalty kick following a Ranger foul to put them up 1-0.
Regis out-shot CSM 10-7 in the first half, but couldn't push a goal past the opposing keeper and trailed 1-0 going into halftime.

At the 67:46-minute mark, Mines added to their lead as an Oredigger made his way into Ranger real estate and found netting after skirting past two defenders and driving the ball to the lower left pocket. Joe Mansfield and Ollie Haines fired off a pair of shots in an attempt to put something on the board in the remaining 20 minutes but came up empty as Colorado School of Mines took home the 2-0 victory.

Games Notes: Regis tallied 14 shots throughout the match, only placing two on frame while CSM notched 15 shots, seven of which on goal. The Rangers earned four coroner kicks compared to the Orediggers' two and beat them out in the saves category as keeper Chase Webert made five saves in net for RU.

Up Next for the Rangers: The Rangers finish the season fourth in the RMAC and have received the No. 4 seed. They will now host the fifth seed University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (9-5-3, 8-4-2 RMAC) in the first round of the RMAC Tournament on Tuesday, October 30 in Denver, Colorado. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
