CANYON, TEXAS – The Regis University women's basketball team suffered their first defeat this afternoon as they fell 80-53 to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas in the final day of the South Central Regional Conference Challenge.

How It Happened: RU opened up the contest sluggishly, falling behind by 10 points halfway through the quarter. Jaz'Myne Snipes helped pull Regis back to within six on to back-to-back layups, but the Lady Buffs managed to slip away again, leading 23-13 heading into the second quarter.

Despite shooting 64.3 percent from the floor and 75 percent from 3-point range, the Rangers continued to struggle. Regis was able to bring themselves as close as five points to West Texas A&M behind a pair of 3-pointers from Morgan Ducklow, but would still trail 45-30 at the half.

A similar story ensued after the break. The Lady Buffs put together an 11-4 run which gave way to an advantage that swelled to 22 points. West Texas A&M went on to outscore the Rangers 21-11 in the fourth quarter on their way to an 80-53 win.

Game Notes: Overall, the Lady Buffs outshot Regis 57 percent to 32 percent from the field and 59 percent to 33 percent from behind the arc.
