Kansas City, Mo. - It was announced this afternoon that three Rangers were named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-South Central Region Team. Representing the men's side was sophomore John Halter and redshirted junior Joe Mansfield while junior Tori Rinsem was tabbed on the women's roster.
Halter was selected to the second team after a sophomore campaign that saw him start all 18 games, accruing 1,526 minutes on the pitch. On 37 shots, 15 on goal, Halter netted a career-high three goals while dishing out as many assists to total nine points on the season. The Gilbert, Arizona native earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll recognition as well as All-RMAC Second-Team accolades.
Mansfield, also a second team representative, racked up a team-leading seven goals in the 2018 slate, tallying a season-high two against the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the RMAC quarterfinal. The midfielder landed 13 of his 30 shots on frame for a .433 shot on goal percentage during his 1,595 minutes played. Mansfield ranked 9th for goals in the RMAC this season and 10th in points after amassing 14. The Ashbourne, Derbyshire local was named to both the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll and All-RMAC First Team for his accomplishments.
Rinsem found her way onto the South Central Region third team after posting a team-high 17 points throughout her junior season, earning a spot on the 2018 All-RMAC first team. She started 17 of 18 games, amassing 1,375 minutes on the pitch. Rinsem led the team with seven goals including the game-winning goal against Western Colorado. She was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week once throughout the season. The Gilbert, Arizona native also collected 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, 2018 RMAC All-Academic First Team, and 2018 Preseason All-RMAC Team honors.
