Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – The No. Regis University baseball team (8-4) finished their four-game series 2-1 loss and a 1-3 record against St. Edward's University (8-5).
How It Happened: Regis surrendered a run in the bottom half of the first inning and was not able to score until after a fifth inning lightning delay.
The top of the sixth inning started with two batters reaching base. Junior
Connor Rochon reached first-base on an error by the first-baseman and advanced one base on a single to left field by senior
Chris Kobar.
Andrew Bryniarski made in on safely on a fielder's choice that ended in Rochon being thrown out at home-plate.
With runners on the corners, Dedin stole second base, forcing a throwing error by the cather and scoring Kobar to tie the game at one.
Both teams were held scoreless through the next seven innings. Unfortunately, the Hilltoppers were able to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourteenth inning.
Game Notes: Kobar led the Rangers with two hits on five appearances in game four. Sophomore
Coby Zimmerman, Rochon, Bryniarski and Dedin rounded out RU's six hits. Batters in the six through nine holes went 0-for-21 on the day.
Regis left nine runners stranded compared to the Hilltoppers 10.
The Rangers pitching staff gave up two earned runs on 12 hits. Freshman
Scott Vinceri (1-1) was given the loss after pitching just 0.1 innings.
