LUBBOCK, Texas - Regis University Baseball opened their season with two wins over No. 7 ranked Lubbock Christian only giving up a solo hit in each game.
 
How It Happened | Game 1: The Rangers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with a homerun from Connor Rochon in the first inning. Rochon placed one over the right field fence in his first at-bat of 2018 after sitting out last season from injury.
 
The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning. Rochon made it to first on a walk and Garrett Skillings followed with a double to left center to bring Rochon around to third. Mickey Meinhofer loaded the bases with a walk.  
 
Zach Dedin placed a hit to center field to score both Rochon and Skillings. With Dedin and Meinhofer on base, Coby Zimmerman found a hole in center field for a 2-RBI double.
 
RU held onto the 5-0 lead to seal the game.
 
Game Notes: Brad Thoutt earned the win from the mound. Thoutt faced 23 batters and tallied nine strikeouts. Patrick Kenny came in as the closer and added one more strikeout. Seven different Rangers posted hits. Rochon scored two runs while Dedin and Meinhofer both finished with 2 RBIs.
 
How It Happened | Game 2: Regis was first to the board taking a 1-0 lead after the first. Logan Heflebower scored on a Dedin single.
 
The Rangers added one more run in the second when Coby Zimmerman scored off a Heflebower sacrifice bunt.
 
The third inning remained scoreless before RU tallied one more in the fourth. Heflebower earned his second RBI of the game bringing in Kennedy Phillips.

Regis posted their final score of the game as Andrew Bryniarski crossed home on a wild pitch in the fifth.
 
Lubbock Christian earned their only run of the game in the seventh.
 
Game Notes: Heflebower and Dedin both finished the game with two hits each. Noah Gotsis struck out nine in 24 batters faced earning the win. Heflebower tallied two RBIs and Dedin added one more.
