No. 13 Rangers slam Lady Bison 19-1 for second-striaght RMAC win

DENVER, Colo. – The No. 13 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 in the conference and 6-2 overall with an impressive 19-1 victory over the Oklahoma Baptist University Lady Bison (3-6, 0-4 RMAC) on Thursday afternoon.
 
How It Happened: Regis never once lost control of this game as they picked apart the Lady Bison defense, scoring the first 13 goals of the game. Junior Wendy Donier (5 G, 1 A, 4 GB, 1 CT) scored four goals in the first half, and junior Sarah Myres (3 G, 4 A, 2 GB, 2 DC) netted a hat-trick before the end of the opening period.
 
OBU scored their lone goal with 7:04 left in the first half. The Rangers came out looking to focus more on ball control in the second half. With a 13-1 lead, RU went on to score six goals in the second half with all six goals coming from six different players. Redshirt-senior Katie Coleman (1 G, 3 GB, 2 CT, 1-1 FPS) netted her first goal, a free-position shot, of the season as she saw some action on the offensive end late in the second half.
 
The Regis defense also clamped down allowing only one shot attempt the entire half, which was saved by senior Kenley Harrington. The game came to an end with the Rangers ahead 19-1, giving them their second-straight conference win of the season.
 
Game Notes: Freshman Kyleigh Peoples (3 G, 4 A, 2 GB, 2 DC) and Myres each recorded three goals and four assists apiece for nine points on the day. Donier tallied six points as she scored a season-high five goals and added one assist in the game. Sophomore Katie Schilmoeller (2 G, 1 GB, 2-2 FPS) scored her first and second goals of the season in the effort, going 2-for-2 on free-position attempts.
 
Defensively, senior Jada Bonner (1 G, 1 A, 6 GB, 3 CT, 5 DC) led the way with three caused turnovers and six ground balls while Coleman, junior Lauren Hurd (2 CT, 3 DC) and sophomore Andrea Macalalad (1 G, 3 GB, 2 CT, 3 DC) each had two caused turnovers each.  
 
All four goalkeepers split time in between the pipes with freshman Elle Crawford (W, 4-2) earning the win making one save and allowing no goals. Junior Hope Correia made two saves and had one goal against in 14:59 in the crease. Senior Kenley Harrington made one save without allowing a goal and sophomore Court Huston did not allow a goal in the final 15:11 of the game.

Up Next for the Rangers: The women's lacrosse team will travel to Durango, Colorado to face the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks on Saturday, March 24 at noon.
