DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University baseball team (16-9, 8-5 RMAC) defeated New Mexico Highlands (7-18, 3-10), 12-7, in a hitting battle Friday afternoon.

How It Happened: The Cowboys jumped to a 1-0 lead as they launched a homerun in the top of the second.

Senior
Andrew Bryniarski answered with his first homerun of the day to tie it up, 1-1. Sparked by Bryniarski's homerun, added two more.

Sophomore
Coby Zimmerman advanced to first on a walk with bases loaded, scoring
Garrett Skillings. Sophomore
Ryan Tierney followed with a fly-out to left-field but scored senior
Chris Kobar.

NMHU didn't have an answer and allowed Regis one more run in the third when Bryniarski hit his second homerun shot.

Tierney joined the homerun category with a solo shot over left-field to give the Rangers a 5-1 lead at the end of the fourth inning.

New Mexico Highlands found their way across home-plate again at the top of the sixth with their second homerun. They added three more runs in the seventh, with their third homerun and a wild pitch.

Junior
Connor Rochon kicked off the seventh with a double. Bryniarski followed with a single up the middle to score Rochon. Kobar reached on a fielder's choice to score Bryniarski. Junior
Logan Heflebower and Tierney each made contact to score an RBI apiece and wrap-up the seventh with an 11-5 lead.

The Cowboys knocked two more homeruns over the fence to pull within four. RU responded with a Rochon homerun for a final score of 12-5. Â

Game Notes: Bryniarski ended the day with two homeruns and three RBIs. Skillings and Heflebower each went 3-for-4 from the plate. Tierney and Rochon each launched homeruns and combined for six RBI's.
On the mound senior
Brad Thoutt (6-1) pitched six innings and threw eight strikeouts. Senior
Patrick Kenny closed out the game allowing zero runs on zero hits in one inning pitched.
