GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 12 ranked women's lacrosse team (9-2, 5-0 RMAC) tamed the No. 22 ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (7-2, 4-2 RMAC), beating them 16-9 on the road Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened: Regis showed the Mavericks exactly what they are capable of as the fourth ranked scoring offense in the nation during the first half. The Rangers went off for nine goals in the opening half against CMU. Freshman
Kyleigh Peoples netted four goals in the opening half with junior
Sarah Myres contributing two goals and two assists. As a team, RU outshot their opponents 23-11 in the first 30 minutes of play.
Peoples continued her impressive play as she netted her fifth goal of the game two minutes and 44 seconds into the second half. Regis outscored the Mavericks in the second half, although it was a much closer margin than the first half (7-6). Myres went on to score two more goals and the Rangers came away with the impressive 16-9 victory.
Game Notes: Myres (4 G, 3 A, 2 GB) led the way with seven points on four goals and three assists while the five goals from Peoples (5 G, 2 GB, 1 CT, 4 DC) was a game-high. Junior

Jada Bonner (2G, 1 GB, 1 CT, 4 DC) each recorded two goals in the game. Redshirt senior
Katie Coleman (6 GB, 2 CT) grabbed a season-high six ground balls and shared the team lead with two caused turnovers with freshman
Sarah Kate Dhom (3 GB, 2 CT).

Elle Crawford (W, 6-2) earned the win making 13 saves and allowing only nine goals in all 60 minutes of play.
Up Next for the Rangers: The women's lacrosse team will host their next four games at home. The first scrum will be an April 7 matchup with the Mountain Lions of the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs at 1 p.m. on the Regis Lacrosse Field. The following week, the team will host the No. 3 ranked Lindenwood University Lions in their only meeting this season on April 15 at noon.
