DENVER, Colo. – The No. 11 ranked women's lacrosse team (10-2, 6-0 RMAC) unleashed for 23 goals in the 23-6 win over the Mountain Lions of the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs (7-8, 2-5 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened: Regis held the visitors scoreless in the second half, but the first half was a much closer margin. After UCCS drew first blood, the Rangers retaliated with a 7-0 run to take a large lead. Freshman
Kyleigh Peoples netted a hat-trick during the run, but by the end of the first half the score was 14-6 in favor of RU.
It was all Regis in the second half of the game as they powered their way to nine goals, while holding their opponents to only three total shots in the second half, none of which made it past a goalkeeper. The Rangers asserted their dominance by outplaying the Mountain Lions in nearly every aspect of the game, made clear with their 17-goal margin of victory.
Game Notes: RU outshot UCCS 43-15 on the day and defensively they forced 33 turnovers. Regis also enjoyed advantages in ground balls (37-25) and draw controls (18-12). It was a complete team effort that gave way to success on both ends of the field. Peoples (6 G, 2 A, 1 GB, 1 CT, 1 DC) finished with eight points on six goals and two assists.

Rachael Walker (3 G, 4 A, 2 CT, 1 CT) added seven points in the game as three others (Bonner, Lugo and Myres) recorded four points apiece. Senior
Jada Bonner (4 G, 6 GB, 7 CT, 4 DC) and junior
Wendy Donier (1 G, 1 A, 4 GB, 7 CT, 2 DC) shared the team lead with seven caused turnovers each. Junior
Lauren Hurd (2 G, 6 GB, 5 DC) scooped up six ground balls and redshirt-senior
Katie Coleman (3 GB, 5 CT) added five of her own. Freshman
Elle Crawford (W, 7-2) was awarded the win as she recorded two saves in 17:28 between the pipes. Sophomore
Court Huston (1 S, 0 GA, 18:44) and junior
Hope Correia (2 S, 2 GA, 23:48) shared time in the crease, combining for three saves.
The Rangers were aggressive, and it paid off in the end, leading the team to their tenth win of the season, marking the sixth-straight season that head coach
Sarah Kellner has guided the team to 10 or more wins. With five more regular season games left in 2018, Regis will be looking to add to that total before post-season begins.
Up Next for the Rangers: The women's lacrosse team will return to the Regis Lacrosse Field next weekend to face Rockhurst University on Friday, April 13 at 3 p.m. Two days later, the team will battle No. 3 ranked Lindenwood University at noon.
