DENVER, Colo. – The No. 12 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (11-2, 7-0 RMAC) flew past the Hawks of Rockhurst University (7-6, 3-5 RMAC) 17-7 on a chilly Friday afternoon.
How It Happened: It was Regis who drew first blood with junior
Sarah Myres netting her 34
th goal of the season to open things up less than three minutes into the game. Myres and fellow junior
Wendy Donier combined for eight of the Rangers 11 goals in the first half. The RU defense held the visitors to only nine shots and two goals in the first 30 minutes of play.
Rockhurst came out in the second half on a mission to get back into the game, but that was quickly stopped by Regis. After the Hawks netted the opening goal of the second half, the Rangers responded with a goal of their own. Midway through the second half, RU held a 15-4 advantage which was their largest lead of the game. The gap was closed slightly by the visiting team, but in the end Regis came away with their seventh victory of 10+ goals this season.
