GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Regis University baseball team (22-18, 14-12 RMAC) stole two games from no. 6 Colorado Mesa University (24-12, 15-8 RMAC) in a double-header on Saturday afternoon. 
 
How It Happened | Game 1: Colorado Mesa University took the lead with one out and one hit in the bottom of the second inning. Regis had just one hit and two base runners until their offense got rolling in the fifth inning. 
 
Sophomore Coby Zimmerman provided the spark the Rangers needed with a single to right-center to lead-off the fifth. Junior Mickey Meinhofer followed with a single to right-field. RU recorded two more singles, by junior Connor Rochon and senior Andrew Bryniarski, scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead. 
 
Senior Chris Kobar sent a solo shot over the left-field wall in the top of the seventh, giving Regis a 4-1 cushion with three outs to secure the game. CMU added one run on two hits and an error in the bottom of the seventh but came up short 4-2.
 
Game Notes: Rochon (2-4) was the only Ranger with multiple hits. Kobar, Bryniarski, Zimmerman, and Meinhofer each recorded a hit as RU put together six as a team. 
 
Bryniarski tallied seven put-outs at first base while Kobar and Meinhofer accounted for six apiece. 
 
Senior Noah Gotsis (6-3) earned the win, throwing 93 pitches in an entire game of work. He allowed just one earned run on eight hits while striking out five batters. 
 
How It Happened | Game 2: CMU also scored the first run in the second game with two runs on one hit in the bottom of the first inning. Their two runs got on board via a walk and a hit-by-pitch and came around to score on a single up the middle. 
 
Bryniarski cut the deficit to just one after he hit a lead-off homerun on his first trip to the plate in the second inning. RU then took the lead, 3-2, with two runs on two hits and an error in the third inning.
 
Zimmerman doubled down the left-field line with the bases loaded, scoring Rochon senior Garrett Skillings who reached base on a fielders' choice and an error respectively. 
 
The Mavericks evened the score at three with a SAC-fly RBI in the bottom half of the third inning. 
 
Regis went three-up, three-down, with a walk sprinkled in, in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning. CMU regained the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-double to right center.
 
Salvato reached base via a two-out walk as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. He came around to tie the game on an RBI-single from Kobar. A Rochon double was enough to send Kobar home, giving the Rangers a 5-4 advantage. Kobar's run proved to be game-winning. 
 
Game Notes: RU recorded six total hits as a team, each coming from a different batter. Bryniarski hit a homerun while Rochon and Zimmerman added a double. Zimmerman accounted for two of the five RBI's for Regis. 
 
Senior Patrick Kenny struck-out four batters in his four innings of work. He allowed three runs and four hits against 21 batters. 
 
Senior Chris Quackenbush (1-1) picked-up his first win of the season after giving up zero hits and zero runs in two innings. He struck-out three batters.
