Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 11 Rangers close out regular season with 21-12 win over ThunderWolves

PUEBLO, Colo. – The No. 11 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (14-3, 8-1 RMAC) closed out the regular season with a resounding 21-12 win over the ThunderWolves of Colorado State University – Pueblo (4-11, 3-6 RMAC) on Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened: Regis looked to put the game away early as juniors Sarah Myres and Wendy Donier opened up with two goals apiece, while sophomore Andrea Macalalad added one of her own to give the Rangers a 5-0 lead, 14:14 into the game.

The home squad followed up with their first two goals of the game, but Myres and junior Lauren Hurd quickly answered with three more goals for RU, extending their lead to 8-2. Freshman Whitney Jacob scored her first goal as a member of the lacrosse team, but CSU-Pueblo closed out the half on a 3-1 run to cut Regis' lead to four goals, 10-6 at the break.

As the second half opened up, it was much of the same for both teams. The Rangers continued to score while also making it difficult for the ThunderWolves to get anything going offensively. RU jumped out to a ten-goal lead, 19-9, after Myres netted her sixth goal of the game, but redshirt-junior Sarah Lugo gave Regis their largest lead of the game (21-10) just minutes later with her second goal of the contest.

With less than four minutes to go in the game, CSU-Pueblo netted two consolation goals, but it was never going to be enough to come back against this strong Rangers squad.

Senior Rachael Walker (1 G, 4 A) did her share of playmaking, tying her season-high with four assists, also adding one goal on the only shot she took.

Defensively, Bonner (1 G, 4 GB, 3 CT, 8 DC) showed why she ranks second in the country in caused turnovers per game, causing a team-high three in the win.
