Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

RU Bests Dixie State in 1-0 Win

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Parker Klein played the hero's role this afternoon in the Regis University men's soccer team (3-3-1, 2-1-1 RMAC) 1-0 victory over Dixie State University (2-5-1, 0-3-1) as he scored the lone goal of the contest.

How It Happened: The Trailblazers opened up play with stocks of momentum, firing off two shots and a corner within the first three and a half minutes. Their energy was quickly depleted, however, as the Rangers battered the Dixie State net with eight shots, three on goal, during the remaining time in the first 45 minutes. Parker Klein bullied the DSU frame with three shots, narrowly missing the mark. Regis conceded only three shot attempts to the Trailblazers throughout the first period, neither team connecting to force a tethered 0-0 score going into halftime.

Feeding off his first half momentum, Klein continued to pester the Trailblazer defense, finally connecting in the 55th minute. Luca Kother found Klein on the left wing, setting him up to launch a missile to the right corner and put Regis on the board.

Both teams were able to put together attacks, neither able to convert on their opportunities. Chase Webert had a little more work in the second half seeing six shots but the Rangers held their ground and collected their first shutout of the season.

Game Notes: Regis outshot the Trailblazers 14 to 9, placing five on goal. Dixie State was able to earn two more corner kicks than the Rangers with six as well as outnumber RU in saves, recording four compared to Regis' two. Klein led the way offensively with a goal on six shots, three on goal while John Halter and Ethan Willson registered three shots apiece. In frame for the Rangers, Webert saw nine shots and made two saves, allowing no goals.

Up Next for the Rangers: The Rangers will now return home for a pair of contests at the Regis Match Pitch, starting with Colorado State University-Pueblo on Friday, September 28 at 3:30 PM. Following that, they welcome Adams State University on Sunday, September 30. Action set to begin at 2:30 PM.
