DENVER, Colo. – The No. 15 ranked Regis University volleyball team (4-5, 0-1 RMAC) faced off with the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (7-2, 1-0 RMAC) on Friday night. Regis came up short in the five-set tilt that featured a battle between the top-two teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) last season.
How It Happened: The Rangers took set one 25-21, but the Orediggers responded with a 25-19 win in set two. RU exploded for a .375 attack percentage in the third set, committing only two errors, blowing Mines out 25-17 to take a 2-1 set lead.
With a 2-1 set advantage, Regis was overpowered by an CSM attack in the fourth set that reached .389 by the end of the set as the Orediggers tied the match up with a 25-20 win in set three.
The fifth and final set was a back-and-forth battle, but the visitors only committed one attacking error in 24 total attempts and they walked away with a 15-11 win in the final set.

Caitlyn Burroway had a game-high 18 kills on 52 total attacks. Freshman

Nikki Kennedy each tallied 11 kills in the match. Senior
Kristina Schell led the way defensively with 16 digs as Burroway chipped in with 14, giving her six double-doubles through nine games this season. Junior setter
Silvia Basso registered 51 assists and had four kills without an attack error in the match.
Up Next for the Rangers: The No. 15 ranked volleyball team will host the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs Mountain Lions tomorrow night at 5 p.m. for their second conference matchup in as many days. Following that, the ladies will matchup with the Colorado Christian University Cougars on Tuesday, September 11 at 7 p.m. Tuesday will serve as the Military and Veteran Appreciation Volleyball Game, so wear your Red, White and Blue to show your appreciation.
