Men, Women Both Eighth in Respective United Soccer Coaches South Central Regional Polls

Regis men climb at least three spots in latest poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Regis University men's and women's soccer teams both appeared on the weekly United Soccer Coaches South Central Regional poll with both programs coming in at the No. 8 spot in each of their polls, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The Rangers on the men's side have been trending upward on the heels of a four-match winning streak. During that stretch, Regis has outscored opponents, 10-1. Freshman forward Pascal von Matthey has led the surge, scoring two goals and contributing one assist over that span.

Senior midfielder Luca Kother and junior forward Parker Klein have each recorded a goal and an assist in that stretch, while sophomore midfielder Ben Shepherd has racked up three assists.

Junior goalkeeper Tim Dolan has been especially impressive, registering nine saves and allowing only one goal. Dolan has lowered his goals-allowed average from 1.44 to 1.05 goals per game in that same set of matches.

The women of RU, who slip three spots, have also had their share of success as of late, winning three of their last five (3-1-1). However, they were .500 this past weekend.

Sophomore forward Gia Lemley was one of four Rangers who scored in Regis' 4-0 road victory at New Mexico Highlands on Friday. She then scored RU's lone goal in Sunday's 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to CSU-Pueblo. Freshman forward Audrey Teague assisted on Lemley's former goal, while the latter goal was unassisted.

Sophomore Katelyn Martin also made a remarkable first-career start, being credited with four saves in her 90 minutes of play to tabulate her first win and shutout simultaneously.

The Rangers on the men's side have a 7-4-1 record overall and a 6-2-0 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play. They will host CSU-Pueblo (4-8-0, 4-4-0 RMAC) at Regis Match Pitch on Friday at 3 p.m.

The Regis women (7-3-2, 5-2-1 RMAC) continue their final road trip of the 2019 regular season at Black Hills State (3-8-1, 3-4-1 RMAC) at Ronnie Theisz Field on Friday at 1 p.m.
