Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 7 Rangers earn 10th-straight win to remain undefeated

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Seventh-ranked Regis University women's lacrosse (10-0, 3-0 RMAC) earned their 10thwin of the season, remaining undefeated, with an 18-6 win over the Rockhurst University Hawks (6-6, 3-2 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon.
 
How It Happened: Regis controlled every aspect of this Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup, owning advantages in shots (32-19), free-position shots (11-8), ground balls (18-6), saves (9-4), draw controls (14-12), turnovers (14-18) and caused turnovers (9-3). 
 
Redshirt-junior Jessica Berg got the Rangers on the board first with a goal less than four minutes into the game. Sophomore Kyleigh Peoples took a pass from senior Sarah Myres and netted RU's second goal of the game 61 seconds later. Rockhurst scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at two goals apiece, but that was countered by goals from seniors Wendy Donier and Lauren Hurd, and junior Ali Vanek to put the visitors in front 5-2. The halftime score was 11-3 in favor of Regis.
 
After the Hawks scored their third goal at the 14:50 mark of the first half, the Rangers went on a 8-0 scoring run to expand their lead to 10 goals, 13-3, a couple minutes into the second half. Senior Grace Rosenthal got on the board with a free-position goal with 15:11 on the game clock. Berg and freshman Jordan Winchester scored the final two goals of the game for RU, leading to an 18-6 win.
 
Game Notes: Eight players netted goals in the game with seven of them recording multiple goals. Vanek, Myres and Donier all tallied a game-high three goals while Peoples, Hurd, Berg and Winchester all finished with two goals. Myres had an assist as well, giving her a game-high four points. Berg was relentless on the defensive end as well, causing four turnovers and grabbing five ground balls. Junior Marisa Twarowski added three ground balls and one caused turnover in the game. Freshman Maya Quigley, Donier and Myres all had success on the draw as they all recorded three draw controls on the day.
 
Sophomore Elle Crawford earned her tenth win (W, 10-0) of the season as she and senior Hope Correia split time in the crease. Crawford made six saves and allowed three goals for a .667 save percentage while Correia had three saves and allowed three goals for a .500 save percentage. 
 
Up Next for the Rangers: The undefeated No. 7 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team will be yet another top-15 matchup, this time it will be a conference bout against the No. 12 ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (9-1, 3-1 RMAC) on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. on the Regis Lacrosse Field.
