Box Score ST. GEORGE, UTAH – The Regis University baseball team (13-28, 8-20 RMAC) was bested 13-4 by Dixie State University (28-14, 18-10 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened: Junior
Kennedy Phillips homered in the top of the seventh inning, scoring himself and freshman
Jacob Barr, who got on base via a walk. In the eighth inning, Barr sent a sacrifice fly to right field that resulted in a third Regis run. The Rangers scored their fourth run of the game on an RBI-double by sophomore
Thomas Alexander in the same inning.
The RU runs came after the Trailblazers used 13 hits to score the first 13 runs of the game. Dixie State scored all 13 of their runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Their first five runs came with two outs on the board before they added six runs in the sixth inning.
Game Notes: Regis totaled six hits in the game, all coming off the bat of different batters. The Rangers tallied one home run, two doubles and three singles. The Trailblazers recorded 14 hits on the game.
RU used six pitchers in the nine-inning game. Sophomore
Colin King (1-4) went five complete innings in his start. He allowed seven runs on seven hits and recorded four strikeouts.
