GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Regis University women's lacrosse team (18-0) has reached the highest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) ranking in program history on Monday afternoon, securing the No. 2 spot in the IWLCA Coaches' Poll.
The Regis Rangers is the only undefeated team across all Division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The team just captured their third Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament Championship after earning the regular season crown a week earlier. Le Moyne remained in the No. 1 spot despite losing in their conference tournament, receiving 606 points and 14 first-place votes. Regis finished with 595 points and had nine first-place votes, with the University of Tampa rounding out the top-three with 578 points and two first-place votes.
In the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse selection show last night, the Rangers were awarded the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region of the bracket for the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The rest of the bracket includes RU's opponent for Friday, No. 4 seeded University of Indianapolis. Lindenwood University captured the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 seeded Colorado Mesa University in a rematch of the RMAC Tournament semifinal game.
Regis is looking to defend their 2018 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship, and they will have home field advantage throughout the opening two rounds. Be sure to come out and support the Rangers on Friday as they take on UIndy at 11 a.m.
