Joel List: The night was full of excitement for the win, but even more so that it was the 100
th career win for
Joel List. His first career win came on September 1, 2017 against the Western New Mexico University Mustangs in five sets during the Oredigger Classic hosted by the Colorado School of Mines. His first win at home came against the No. 17 ranked Tarleton State University in the opening match of the 2017 Colorado Premier Challenge. Having reached the milestone in only five seasons, List has an overall record of 100-24 for a career winning percentage of .806. In his first season, List guided his team to an overall record of 31-4, including a 17-1 record in the conference, winning the RMAC regular season and tournament titles on the way to also capturing the NCAA South-Central Regional Championship in 2017. List was named the AVCA South-Central Region Coach of the Year in 21017. The team advanced all the way to the NCAA Quarterfinals in Pensacola, Florida that season. In 2019, List's team won 29 games and lost only five, again going 17-1 in RMAC play. That team won the regular season title but lost in the RMAC Tournament bracket.
Following the loss, List and the 2019 squad rallied to win their second NCAA South-Central Regional Championship in three seasons, and List was once again named the AVCA South Central Region Coach of the Year. After beating Saint Leo in three sets in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship, List took his team to the Semifinal Round where they matched up with No. 1 ranked, tournament favorite, California State University, San Bernardino. The team lost 3-1 in the match, but it was the first time a Regis team reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Championship since longtime former head coach,
Frank Lavrisha, took the Hall of Fame team of 1998 to the semifinals, led by American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year, Melinda Almazan. List has accomplished a lot in the five years that he has been the leader of the team, and there are sure to many other accomplishments along the way. We congratulate List on his 100
th career win and look forward to many more in the years to come.
Up Next for the Rangers: The Regis University volleyball team will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. as they go toe-to-toe with the Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderWolves (12-3, 6-1 RMAC) in the Regis Field House.
