Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rangers Cruise to 91-63 Win Over Warriors

Bokol records his first double double of the season

DENVER - The Regis University men's basketball team (3-1,0-0 RMAC) lit up the scoreboard Tuesday night when they faced the SAGU American Indian College Warriors (0-3). Graduate student guard Brian Dawson led all scorers with 16 points in the 91-63 win.

How it Happened: Junior guard Will Cranston-Lown banged in a triple from deep to start the Rangers off right. Then an 11-2 run from Regis would cement a solid lead before the first media timeout. But from there, SAGU's zone defense would give Regis trouble shooting the ball. The Warriors managed to come within eight points with six minutes to play in the half, but junior guard Aaron Bokol killed their momentum when he drained a 3-pointer following the SAGU run. RU continued to pull away and held a 44-31 lead at the half.

A huge dunk from junior forward Alex Cartwright and then a 3-pointer from redshirt junior forward Kevin Ebiriekwe lit the crowd up to begin the second half. Regis was finally able to snap the zone defense in the final 20 and start putting up big points. RU inflated their lead to as much as 32 when Bokol got to the line with six minutes to play, breaking the Warriors spirit. The team's solid play on both ends of the court allowed them to put SAGU away, 91-63.

Game Notes: The team went 42 percent from the field and 32 percent from behind the arc in the win. They also produced nine points at the line.

The Ranger's defense held SAGU to under 40 percent from both the field and from the three. RU scored an impressive 28 points off turnovers.

Dawson's (6-14 FG,4-11 3-PT) 16 points and five assists were game-highs.

Bokol (4-8 FG, 1-4 3-PT) earned his first double double of the season (10 rebounds and 14 points).

Cranston-Lown (5-6 FG, 1-1 3-PT) had five boards tonight along with his 11 points. He also registered four assists and three steals.

Graduate student guard Troy Brady (4-11 FG, 3-10 3-PT) added 10 points.

Ebiriekwe (4-7 FG, 1-2 3-PT) and graduate student Ilisia Washington (4-10 FG, 2-7 3-PT) each scored 10 points. The two combined for nine rebounds as well.
