COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis University men's and women's cross country teams had a combined seven student-athletes earn recognition for their work in the classroom by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Leading the way for the Rangers was junior
Mikaela Taylor (Limon, Colo.) who was tabbed to the RMAC All-Academic First Team, the conference office announced on Thursday.
This is Taylor's first time receiving RMAC All-Academic recognition for her hard work in the classroom and on the field. Taylor has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in Religious Studies at Regis. This year, Taylor has competed strongly in the team's competitions. In the team's first race of the season at the UCCS Rust Buster, Taylor finished with a time of 22:27.4. In the Roadrunners Invitational at Washington Park, Taylor finished 74th overall with a time of 27:29.7. Then at the Highlander Invitational in Riverside, Calif., Taylor posted a mark of 25:54.8. Most recently, Taylor finished 108th at the 2021 RMAC Cross Country Championship in Golden, Colo. with a time of 28:21.6.
Meanwhile, on the men's side, senior
Bryan Martinez (3.774 GPA, Biochemistry and Linguistics) and sophomore
Ezra Weir (4.0 GPA, Business Administration) took home RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll nominations for their stellar work in the classroom. Martinez previously was on the Honor Roll in 2019 while this is Weir's first time receiving an Honor Roll nomination.
On the women's side, senior
My Yen Nguyen (3.571 GPA, Health and Exercise Science), sophomore
Julianne Pelletier (3.919 GPA, Neuroscience), junior
McKenna Uhing (3.924 GPA, Political Economy), and junior
Annika Zenk (3.97 GPA, Elementary Education) were awarded with RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll nominations as well. This is the third time Nguyen has received the honor while this is Pelletier, Uhing and Zenk's debut on the Honor Roll.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must hold at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.
