Braney Sets Regis Record at Tiger Open

HAYS, Kan. – The Regis University Women's Cross Country team ran at the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open on Saturday, posting 210 team points, placing the Rangers 8th out of 10 teams.

Colorado School of Mines claimed the team title, while Juliana Sakat of Iowa Western CC won the individual crown.

Allie Braney was the top performer for the Rangers, finishing 22rd with a Regis record time of 18:38.2, and earning 18 points.

Caitie Slattery earned 31 points in 38th with a time of 19:27.2 Madi Gifford recorded a time of 20:33.5, finishing 65th and collecting 46 points. Not far behind was Mila Stamper with a time of 20:55.2 (74th, 52 points), then Valeria Bustos at 24:33.7 (93rd, 63 points), and Adrianna Ventura-Hill at 26:58.4 (102nd, 68 points).

Gifford, Slattery, and Braney all had personal bests in the race.

"Our men and women executed beautiful races today," said Head Coach Willie Moore. "Lyon Craig set the 8k school record by 41 seconds on the men's side! Allie Braney set the 5k school record by 16 seconds on the women's side! Liam Chavez ran the third fastest 8k time in program history. It was a great day for the program."

The rangers now look ahead to the RMAC Championship Meet, hosted by UCCS at Monument Valley Park on October 25.
