COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Graduate student outside hitter
Caitlyn Burroway posted some remarkable numbers in two wins for the Regis University volleyball team this past weekend which has earned the League City, Texas native her second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Offensive Player of the Week award in 2021.
This past weekend, Regis took down the Adams State University Grizzlies in four sets and then disposed of the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls in three sets for a near-perfect 2-0 weekend winning six of seven sets along the way.
Burroway was a major part of the offensive success for the Rangers in the two wins. Against ASU, Burroway posted yet another double-double on the season with 20 kills (.261 H%) and 12 digs. These kinds of numbers go a long way in a four-set match. The following night, the outside hitter had 15 kills in only three sets of work, posting an outstanding .429 hitting percentage.
Currently, RU is tied for the second spot in the RMAC Volleyball Standings with the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers as both teams sport a 14-2 record inside the conference. The Rangers hope to close out the regular season with wins over Colorado Mesa University this Friday and then in the regular season finale against the Westminster College Griffins on Saturday night. Both matches will be on the road for RU as they set their eyes on claiming the second seed in the RMAC Postseason Tournament.
