LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the Division II South Central All-Region Team and two Regis University volleyball players earned recognition. Graduate student outside hitter
Caitlyn Burroway and junior setter
Mara LeGrand have been tabbed to the All-Region Team, the association announced Wednesday.
Burroway (League City, Tex.) previously was given AVCA South Central All-Region Honorable Mention in 2017. She leads the RMAC in kills per set with an average of 3.56. She's also averaging 3.96 points per set, which is second in the conference. Burroway has racked up an astounding 14 double-doubles so far this season and broke her career-high in kills (27) on Oct. 9 in the team's 3-1 win over CSU Pueblo. She has also appeared as a RMAC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.
LeGrand (Papillion, Neb.) received the award for the first time. The Nebraska native ranks second in the RMAC in assists with a grand total of 1,098. She is currently averaging 10.76 assists per set. LeGrand has had a career-season. Early in the year on Sept. 11 versus Lewis, the setter smashed her career-high in digs (30) in the squad's 3-1 victory. Then on Nov. 12, she followed that up by breaking another career-high. This time in assists (56) in RU's narrow 1-3 loss to Colorado Mesa. Legrand has earned a remarkable four RMAC Setter of the Week awards this year.
The The No. 5 seeded Regis University Volleyball team (20-7 - 15-3 RMAC) will face the No. 4 seeded Angelo State University Belles (23-4 - 16-1 Lone Star) in the opening round of the 2021 Division II National Volleyball Tournament tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center in Denver.
