LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The Regis University men's basketball team (8-1,3-0 RMAC) stays perfect in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and extended their win streak to eight-straight by besting the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys (5-4,0-3 RMAC), Saturday night at the John A. Wilson Complex.
How it Happened: The Rangers had their biggest lead (46-34) of the first half when junior forward
Alex Cartwright nailed a pair of free throws at the charity stripe just before the first frame came to an end. Later in the second half, Regis extended their lead to as much as 16 points when junior guard
Will Cranston-Lown drained a 3-pointer at the 17:34 mark, making the score 54-38. From there though, the Cowboys threatened with solid shooting from the field (58 percent) and even came within just one point of Regis three times. But, with the Rangers leading 71-70 and just seven minutes to play, a 9-1 run from RU allowed them to keep a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game. Regis held on to win it, 92-87, and improved to 3-0 in the RMAC.
