Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 12 RU Holds ASU Shotless In 22-0 Win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  – Riding a six-game winning streak, the No. 12 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (7-1, 3-0 RMAC) routed the Adams State University Grizzlies (0-5, 0-5 RMAC) by a score of 22-0, while holding the Grizzlies without a single shot in the game. The game was played at a neutral site on the campus of UCCS in Colorado Springs.

How It Happened: 11 different players netted goals for Regis in the game. Seniors Jessica Berg and Kyleigh Peoples scored the opening goals of the game, with Berg scoring first, and Peoples assisting on the score. On the next goal, the roles were reversed with Peoples scoring and Berg assisting on the play.

After the 2-0 lead, the lead grew to 10 before the midway point of the first half, inducing the 10-goal running clock. That did not prevent the Rangers from scoring as Berg, junior Lucy Johnson, and sophomores Sarah Hanson and Maddie Northcut all scored before the end of the half, bringing the count to 14-0 in favor of RU.

The second half featured eight goals from Regis while the defense held the Grizzlies without a single shot for the entire 60-minute contest. The final score of the game was 22-0 in favor of the Rangers who captured their seventh-consecutive win of the year.

Game Notes: It was a day of firsts for RU as it was the first time all season the team held their opponents to zero shots in the entire contest. Additionally, Hanson and freshman Emma Jarrett both scored the first collegiate goals of their careers in the win. Jarrett scored back-to-back goals in the second half, and Hanson netter her free-position attempt towards the end of the first half.

Both senior Elle Crawford (7-1) and Elizabeth Myotte shared equal time between the pipes, but neither of the ladies faced any shots from the Grizzlies. The Regis defense was too strong on the day as they caused 25 ASU turnovers. 15 different players recorded a caused turnover in the game, while 12 registered at least one ground ball.

Up Next for the Rangers: The No. 12 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team is scheduled to play against the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks tomorrow, but the time and the location of the game remain to be determined at the time of this recap. All updates on the game time and the location of the game will be announced on www.regisrangers.com and all Regis Rangers social media channels as soon as the information becomes available.
