DENVER – The eleventh-ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (10-1, 6-0 RMAC) extended their winning streak to double-digits (10) with a 22-5 win over the Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderWolves on Senior Day.
How It Happened: Just a few days after they beat the ThunderWolves 21-4 on the road in Pueblo, both teams were back at it again on Friday, this time on Regis' home field. Three different Rangers opened the scoring for the home side with senior
Kyleigh Peoples scoring the first goal of the game. Junior
Alexis Parker followed with a goal of her own and then sophomore
Bailey Truex got on the board after that, giving RU a quick 3-0 lead.
The Pack scored their first goal in the fifth minute, cutting the lead to two goals. The ThunderWolves managed to score four total goals in the first half, but Regis was too strong offensively, scoring 14 goals in the first 30 minutes of the game.
The second half was a better showing for a Rangers' defense that was only allowing five goals per game this season, good enough for third-best in the country. RU's defense only surrendered one goal in the second half, and the offense continued to produce. The first 4-0 run from Regis in the second half featured two goals from senior
Andrea Macalalad, one goal from senior
Jessica Berg and a goal from freshman
Lily Ferguson. CSU Pueblo scored their only goal of the half after Ferguson's goal, and then the Rangers rattled off another 4-0 run. This time the goals came from freshman
Tia Krats, Macalalad, sophomore
Maddie Northcut and Peoples. Final score: 22-5 in favor of RU who captured their tenth win in a row.
Game Notes: Peoples set a season-high with eight points in the game, one shy of her career-best of nine points, registering four goals and four assists.
