GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 10
th-ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team met up with the 24
th-ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks in Grand Junction on Wednesday afternoon for a rematch of the March 11
th matchup between the two top-25 teams.
How It Happened: Though the location was different than the first matchup, the result was the same for Regis as they dominated from the opening whistle. As they have done for a large portion of their games this season, the Rangers got things going early and often.

Jessica Berg and
Andrea Macalalad combined for the first goal of the game with Macalalad sending a pass to Berg for the goal. Senior
Kyleigh Peoples scored her 39
th goal of the season and sophomore
Bailey Truex and freshman
Tia Krats added goals to put the visitors ahead 4-0. Berg capped off the 5-0 run with her second goal before the Mavericks were finally able to get past the brilliant goalkeeping of senior
Elle Crawford.
After conceding the goal to CMU, RU countered with a 6-0 run from the 17:20 mark until Macalalad scored with 5:58 left in the first half. With a man-up advantage, the Mavericks scored with 10 seconds left in the first half which brought the score to 11-2 as the teams headed to halftime.
In the second half, Krats netted her second goal of the game to put Regis in front by 10, sparking another big scoring run from the Rangers, leading to an 18-2 lead with 6:22 remaining in the game. The home side managed to score back-to-back goals with 5:08 and 2:10 on the clock, but it was too late as RU had all but sealed the game. Junior
Monica Looney scored the dagger as her ninth goal of the season secured to the 19-4 win over the No. 24 ranked Mavericks.
Game Notes: Peoples (3 G, 3 A, 3 GB, 1 CT) recorded six points in the win to lead all players in the game. Berg single-handedly outscored CMU with five goals on the day, setting a season-high with five points in the game. She also led all players with seven ground balls, four caused turnovers and six draw controls. Macalalad (2 G, 1 A, 1 GB), Truex (3 G, 1 GB, 1 CT, 3 DC) and Krats (2 G, 1 A, 1 GB, 1 DC) each had three points apiece. Crawford (W, 11-1) picked up her eleventh win of the season, making seven saves in all 60 minutes as the netminder. Her goals against average is now below 5.00 at 4.91 for the season and her save percentage is .500.
Up Next for the Rangers: The tenth-ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team will close out the regular season with a road matchup with the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs Mountain Lions this Saturday, May 1. Following the regular season finale, the top four teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) standings will advance to the postseason tournament. If Regis wins against the Mountain Lions this weekend, they will lock up the right to host the RMAC Tournament on their home field. The tournament is scheduled for May 7 and 9.
