COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The first race of the 2021 Regis University Cross Country season has been completed and number of Regis runners placed in the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs 14
th Annual Rust Buster.
On the women's side, the team placed sixth with freshman
Abigail Clarke leading the Rangers, finishing the 5K race (3.11 mi) 58
th overall with a time of 21:11.6. Clarke had an average mile time of 6:48.9 in her first race as a member of the RU women's cross country team. Following behind Clarke were the duo of juniors,
Lily Saddoris and
Annika Zenk, who placed 63
rd and 64
th overall. Saddoris ran a time of 21:28.5 (6:54.3/mile) while Zenk finished with a time of 21:35.6 (6:56.6). Sophomore
Mikaela Taylor (2:27.4), senior
My Yen Nguyen (22:46.0), freshman
Katrina Kelley (23:39.8),
McKenna Uhing (23:42.5) and
Julianne Pelletier (26:24.9) rounded out the rest of the group.
The men's cross country team finished eighth on their side of the race with sophomore
Judd Ogle posted the top time with a 30:27.5, and an average mile time of 6:07.7. Ogle placed 75
th overall with senior
Bryan Martinez (31:27.5) and freshman
William Oakes (31:42.8) finishing 81
st and 82
nd, respectively. Rounding out the men's side of the race were sophomore
Ezra Weir (36:59.3) and freshman
Aaron Bennett (41:55.6).
The next competition that both cross country teams will apart of is the 28
th Annual Joe I. Vigil Invitational in Alamosa, Colorado hosted by Adams State University.
