Rangers Outpace Hardrockers on the Road, Improve to 5-3 in the RMAC

Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Regis University women's basketball team (9-6,5-3 RMAC) beat the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers (1-13,1-7 RMAC) Friday night to improve their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) record to 5-3. Graduate student Tashika Burrell led the Rangers with 19 points while three others reached double-digits in scoring on the road.

How it Happened: Regis started quickly by embarking on a 15-6 run. The squad owned an eight-point advantage to end the first frame. RU kept the buckets coming and inflated their lead to 64-48 before the teams headed to the locker room. 

Burrell opened the second half with back-to-back layups, which set the tone for the second half. RU's 55 percent shooting from the field in the third frame proved to be too much for the Hardrockers to handle as they easily won the game, 79-61.

Game Notes: The Rangers 52 percent (32-61 FG) shooting from the field was their second-best all season. Meanwhile, their 42 percent (??8-19 3-PT) shooting from behind the arc was their third-best percentage all season long. 

Regis crashed the glass hard and outrebounded SDM by a margin of 41-26.

RU led by as much as 24 points in the contest.

Regis' bench produced an effective 18 points. 

Junior Morgan L. Smith (3-5 FG) nabbed a career-high 17 rebounds.

Burrell's (8-12 FG, 3-5 3-PT) 19 points were a season-high.

Freshman Athena Saragoza (5-10 FG, 4-6 3-PT) added 15 points. 

Senior Erin Stroberg (6-9 FG, 0-1 3-PT) contributed 12 points.

Junior Sam Deem (5-6 FG) took home 10 points.

Up Next for the Rangers: Regis' next game will be when they host the UC - Colorado Springs Mountain Lions (4-9, 2-5 RMAC) this Tuesday at 5 p.m.
