Rangers finish strong at Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Regis University women's cross country team went out west to California on Saturday and competed in the University of California-Riverside Highlander Invitational.

The Rangers posted a 26th place finish with sophomore Lily Saddoris leading the Regis squad.

"What I liked today was that our top three, top four runners ran together for the first mile. Everyone did really well, and some even got season bests," said head coach John Esquibel.

How It Happened: Senior Lily Saddoris led the Rangers with a 212th place finish and a time of 24 minutes, 55.7 seconds.

Following Saddoris was freshman Mariah Heuer with a personal best 6-kilometer time of 25:12.0 and finished 218th overall.

"I was very pleased. Lily has so much talent and it's so nice seeing her be our number one athlete. She should be way out there. After the first mile she looked and asked to go and she just went," said Esquibel.

Mikaela Taylor, McKenna Uhing, and Ryann Sheehan finished out the Regis squad in California. Taylor posted a 230th place finish with a time of 25:37.5. Uhing finished close behind Taylor with a 234th place finish. Sheehan crossed the finish line with a time of 26:59.0 and finished 252nd overall.

Up Next: The Rangers wil race down in Colorado Springs on Oct. 21st at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
