Burbrink and Theis named First Team All-Academic, four Rangers earn RMAC Honor Roll

| By:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the volleyball All-Academic teams on Tuesday, with a total of six Regis University student-athletes earning recognition.

Senior middle blocker Nadine Burbrink and junior outside hitter Halle Theis earned First Team All-Academic honors through the conference, while the Rangers placed four players — Mara LeGrand, Hannah Kepler, Bre Skala and Haley Kennedy — on RMAC Honor Roll.

To be eligible for First Team consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. First Team All-Academic members were voted on by the conference's sports information directors for meeting those criteria, as well as demonstrating outstanding performance on the court. Student-athletes not voted to the First Team, and who carry a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher, automatically qualify for Honor Roll.

Burbrink earned First Team All-Academic in her first season eligible for the award after transferring in from Hillsborough Community College prior to her junior season. In her second year with the Rangers, Burbrink currently ranks third on team with 242 kills and is second on the team in total blocks with 83, helping guide No. 14 ranked Regis to a 20-6 overall record during the regular season.

Academically, Burbrink boasts a spotless 4.0 GPA during her time at Regis as a Business Management major.

Tuesday's announcement also marked the first time Theis has earned First Team All-Academic honors after being named Honor Roll as a sophomore. Theis leads all Rangers with 284 kills this season (3.02 kills per set); the eighth most kills among all RMAC players.

Theis has also added 18 service aces, 31 total blocks and 191 digs from the outside hitter position, which ranks as the third most on the team. Academically, she owns a 3.77 GPA as a Biological and Biomedical Sciences major.

In addition to the two Rangers earning First Team All-Academic, Regis placed four players on the RMAC Honor Roll:
