SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Regis University baseball team (1-4-1, 0-0 RMAC) wrapped up their California trip by traveling from Irvine to northern San Diego to take on the Cal State San Marcos Cougars (1-1). Today, the Rangers settled for a split after falling in the opener, but exploded for 13 runs in the closer to take their first win of the season.
Game One | How it Happened: Regis started freshman
Brady Gilmore (1-1) on the bump. In the first, San Marcos took a 1-0 lead, but redshirt junior
Colten Chase's homer evened the field at 1-1 in the second.Â
CSUSM piled on in the fourth-sixth with four runs, inflating their lead to 5-1. RU added one more run in the sixth with a bases-juiced walk, but couldn't spark anymore offense. The squad fell 6-2 in the opener.Â

Zach Daudet went 3-5 in the box to lead the team.Â

Patrick Kennedy rang up four batters in just three innings of work.
Sophomore
Reagan Guthrie led Regis with seven putouts.
Game Two | How it Happened: Regis lit the scoreboard up in their final game of the weekend. After trailing 2-3 in the second, the Rangers completed a cycle in the third inning and scored six runs, taking control of the game 8-3.Â
After scoring three more in the fourth, Chase hit his second home run of the day which put Regis up 12-6.
The Cougars put up a small fight in the last few innings, but never was a real threat to the Rangers. Regis ended their long weekend on a high note by beating Cal State San Marcos, 13-9.

Andy Beyene led the squad with a trio of RBI.Â

Matt Marlow had a game-high eight putouts.
Guthrie broke his career-high in assists with five.Â

Caleb Ayers rang up four batters in just 2.1 innings.
Up Next for the Rangers: Regis will return to the friendly confines of the Regis Baseball Field when they host Minot State (2-1) in their home opener. The first game is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
