Regis Ends Calif. Trip on a High Note

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Regis University baseball team (1-4-1, 0-0 RMAC) wrapped up their California trip by traveling from Irvine to northern San Diego to take on the Cal State San Marcos Cougars (1-1). Today, the Rangers settled for a split after falling in the opener, but exploded for 13 runs in the closer to take their first win of the season.

Game One | How it Happened: Regis started freshman Brady Gilmore (1-1) on the bump. In the first, San Marcos took a 1-0 lead, but redshirt junior Colten Chase's homer evened the field at 1-1 in the second.

CSUSM piled on in the fourth-sixth with four runs, inflating their lead to 5-1. RU added one more run in the sixth with a bases-juiced walk, but couldn't spark anymore offense. The squad fell 6-2 in the opener.

Game Notes: Freshman Zach Daudet went 3-5 in the box to lead the team.

Junior P Patrick Kennedy rang up four batters in just three innings of work.

Sophomore Reagan Guthrie led Regis with seven putouts.

Game Two | How it Happened: Regis lit the scoreboard up in their final game of the weekend. After trailing 2-3 in the second, the Rangers completed a cycle in the third inning and scored six runs, taking control of the game 8-3.

After scoring three more in the fourth, Chase hit his second home run of the day which put Regis up 12-6.

The Cougars put up a small fight in the last few innings, but never was a real threat to the Rangers. Regis ended their long weekend on a high note by beating Cal State San Marcos, 13-9.

Game Notes: Both Chase and graduate student Roger Riley logged three hits in the game.

Graduate student Andy Beyene led the squad with a trio of RBI.
