Regis University, Arrupe Jesuit announce grand opening ceremonies for newly renovated turf fields

| By:
DENVER, Colo. — Regis University, Ranger Athletics and Arrupe Jesuit High School are excited to invite community members to two grand opening ceremonies this week to celebrate the completion of two newly illuminated and artificially turfed fields.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. March 23 for ceremonies before Arrupe Jesuit High School Generals soccer plays KIPP Denver Collegiate at 5 p.m. For the second event, gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 25 for ceremonies prior to the No. 12 Regis University Rangers women's lacrosse game versus No. 4 Lindenwood University Lions at 7 p.m.

Fans are invited to tour the facility, located on the southeast side of the Regis' Northwest Denver Campus along Regis Boulevard, prior to the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on both days.

The first 100 attendees at both events will receive a gift bag. All are encouraged to enjoy free food and beverages and cheer on both teams.

"This is a very special celebration that began over six years ago with the vision of providing our students with a best-in-class facility while offering our community partners a home to play sports with each learning the many intrinsic values sport provides." Said Cody Teets, Interim President at Regis University.  "We are very fortunate and thankful to partner with Shea Homes, the Shea Family and Arrupe Jesuit High School in this shared vision to provide to our community."

Made possible through a special partnership between the Shea Homes, the university and the high school, construction was complete just six months after the project broke ground on Oct. 7.

The new facility provides modernized and enhanced fields to call home for the Regis soccer, lacrosse and rugby teams, and the overall student body, while offering a state-of-the-art venue for the Arrupe Jesuit boys and girls soccer teams.

Additionally, the turf fields are expected to host intramural and club sporting events while offering opportunities for the local community. The fields, which feature eco-friendly turf and energy-efficient precision LED lights, also will help the university's sustainability initiatives by saving 5.4 million gallons of water in the first year.

This week's ceremonies celebrate the completion of Phase One for the project, with additional amenities planned in the near future.

"Thank you to all of those who have assisted in this vision as it has become a reality," said David Spafford, Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics at Regis University.  "As all parties begin to utilize the fields, we are looking at purchasing two video score boards and including two additional phases of building locker rooms and offices for each program and a new state of the art press box and stands that will serve both fields at the same time."
