GOLDEN, Colo. - The Regis University softball team (28-19, 22-10 RMAC) concluded their four-game series with the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (14-25, 14-15 RMAC) Saturday afternoon. RU had a productive day in the batter's box as the team posted 29 hits and five home runs in the team's 3-4 series win over Mines.
Game One | How it Happened: Harpman (W, 16-7) started in the circle in game one for the Rangers.
The hit fest commenced in the first inning when senior Jessi Case slammed a solo home run over the center field fence in the first inning. Then in the second, she did it again to put Regis up 2-0.
The derby continued in the third when graduate student Allisha Martinez had a solo shot over the center field fence, but Mines wanted in on the fun too. The home team logged a RBI single plus a grand slam in the fourth to take the lead, 5-3.
RU had a short memory though, sophomore Katherine Raper's fifth inning RBI double got the team within two. Then RBI singles from both junior Shayelyn Allen and senior Carly Beard helped the Rangers regain the lead at 6-5.
CSM tied the game in the home half of the fifth, but Allen clubbed the squads fourth homer of the day just in the knick of time. The seventh inning two RBI homer put Regis infront 8-6.
The Orediggers nearly had enough juice to tie the game yet again, but they could only plate one more run in the seventh. In the end, the Rangers won game three by a margin of 8-7.
Game Notes: Regis scored eight runs off 16 hits and had no errors.
Martinez led at the plate with a perfect four-for-four performance. She logged one RBI and scored twice.
Case was 3-5 and also scored twice. She had a pair of RBI.
Allen was 3-4 for a season-high three hits. Her three RBI was also a season-high.
Beard and Raper also had RBI. Raper also had a career-high 11 putouts in the win.
Harpman struck out five batters in her complete game win.
Game Two | How it Happened: The series closer saw junior RHP

After a scoreless first two innings, Mines took a 4-0 lead in the third, but Regis didn't flinch. RU stormed back and tied it at 4-4 after a productive fourth and fifth inning. Raper had a solo homer run in the fourth and Martinez kicked off the fifth with a two RBI double. Then, freshman Rachel Williams logged a ground out RBI and Allen posted a RBI single to swing momentum RU's way at 5-4.
CSM tied it at 5-5 in the fifth, but Case's RBI single put her on base and in scoring position. An error allowed her to race home during freshman Miia Campos' at bat, helping Regis take the 7-5 lead.
Sophomore RHP Megan Loveland (W, 5-6) and Harpman did a fantastic job of not allowing the Orediggers to creep back in the game as RU held on to win it, 7-5.
Game Notes: Regis scored seven runs off 13 hits and had no errors.
Multiple Rangers logged two hits in the game. Raper, Martinez, Case, Allen and Campos all were 2-4.
Martinez led the team in RBI with two.
Loveland fanned two batters and earned her fifth win of the year.
Harpman logged the first save of her career.
Up Next For The Rangers: The Rangers will be back in action this coming weekend when they host the MSU Denver Roadrunners (30-16 RMAC, 18-11). Games are set to begin Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m.. Following Saturday's second game, the team will hold a special ceremony to recognize their eight seniors and grad students.
