Regis women's soccer claim No. 7 spot in RMAC Coaches' Preseason Poll

| By:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll on Wednesday ahead of the 2022 season.

Regis women's soccer came in at No. 7 with a total of 85 points, just behind Colorado State University Pueblo (89) and Metropolitan State University of Denver (93).

Colorado School of Mines tops the poll with three-first place votes and 128 vote points. The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Colorado Mesa University tied for second with 125 points, while UCCS earned five first-place votes and CMU garnered three first-place votes.

The Rangers, under the direction of first-year head coach Jeff Frykholm, are coming off a fourth-place finish in the RMAC standings in 2021 where they posted a 14-6 overall record and 9-3 mark in the RMAC. And after advancing to the 2021 RMAC Tournament championship game, they'll be on a mission again in 2022 to challenge for a RMAC title.

Regis will lean on a talented group of returners, including three RMAC Players to Watch selections in senior forward Kelby Kuo, sophomore midfielder Sarah Wynn and graduate student goalkeeper, Katelyn Martin.

Kuo made an immediate impact in her first season with the Rangers, coming over from Colorado College, as she led all RMAC players with 38 points (12th most in the nation) and tied for the conference lead in goals scored with 15. Her performance earned her First Team All-RMAC honors and Second Team All South Central Region.

Wynn hit the ground running as a freshman, starting 11 of 18 games for the Rangers and finishing tied for the most assists in the RMAC with 13 to go with four goals scored. She was named Second Team All-RMAC and to the 2021 RMAC All-Tournament team.

As for Martin, she shined in her first season as the Rangers' full-time starting goalkeeper, posting a 13-6 record with a 73.8% save percentage and 76 saves; the fifth most amongst RMAC goalkeepers. She was also named to the RMAC All-Tournament team and the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll in 2021.

The Rangers are set to open their 2022 campaign Thursday, August 25 at home against Midwestern State University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. under the lights at the Regis Turf Field.
