COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the results of the RMAC Baseball Coaches' Preseason Poll on Wednesday ahead of the 2023 season.

Regis University came in at No. 3 in the coaches' poll with 48 points, just behind Metropolitan State University Denver (56 points), the 2022 RMAC Tournament Champions, and first place Colorado Mesa University (63 points). Colorado State University Pueblo (43 points) and Colorado School of Mines (39 points) rounded out the top-5 teams.

The Rangers are coming off a strong 2022 campaign that saw the team finish 27-24-1 overall and 20-12 inside the RMAC en route to a second-place finish in the conference standings during the regular season; the team's highest finish since rejoining the conference in 1997.

A trio of Rangers that were pivotal to the team's run last spring were named to the RMAC Players to Watch list for 2023 in senior infielder Matt Marlow, senior infielder Colten Chase and junior outfielder Levi Padilla.

Marlow hit .361 last season while leading the Rangers in runs batted in (54), home runs (13) doubles (17) and triples (4) while striking out just 12 times in 194 at-bats. Defensively, the sure-handed first baseman finished with 351 putouts and a .977 fielding percentage. His performance would earn him All-RMAC Honorable Mention.

Chase, a Second Team All-RMAC selection last season, had a career year in 2022 as he set career highs in batting average (.380), home runs (4), doubles (16) and stolen bases, swiping 24 bags in 26 attempts. He also finished tied for second on the Rangers with 44 runs batted in and started all 44 games he appeared in.

As for Padilla, he had a breakout season in 2022, starting 44 of 48 games as the Rangers' center fielder. He batted .348 with 14 doubles, six home runs and 31 runs driven in. Defensively, Padilla was rock solid as he finished with a .980 fielding percentage on 100 total chances en route to being named to the 2022 RMAC Gold Glove Team.

Regis is scheduled to open its 2023 campaign on Thursday, February 2nd when it begins a four-game road series against Concordia University-Irvine.
